Siddharth Sareen visit

On December 17 and 18, 2025, we were pleased to welcome Siddharth Sareen to our lab. Siddartha is an interdisciplinary researcher and a leading voice working at the confluence of the Energy Transition, Governance, and Environmental and Social Justice.

He presented his work to a broad audience at the Earth and Life Institute Seminar here at UCLouvain. In this seminar, entitled “Governing multi-scalar energy transitions across sectors” he provided a synthesis of his research to date and shared exciting details on upcoming projects.

We also had the opportunity to engage more deeply with him during a workshop-like meeting and would like to thank him for the generous time he spent with our team.

Dr. Siddharth Sareen is is a Professor at the Fridtjof Nansen Institute in Oslo and Professor at the Centre for Climate and Energy Transformation at the University of Bergen. Professor Sareen is an interdisciplinary environmental social scientist whose work spans development studies, human geography, and political ecology.

His research focuses on the governance of energy transitions, with particular attention to social and environmental justice, energy poverty, and sustainability across sectors such as electricity, urban transport, and the built environment.
